Therapies

Therapy

Sarah has a great deal of experience providing private therapy to adults with a range of presenting difficulties including anxiety, depression, work stress, eating disorders, mental health and trauma resulting from child sexual abuse, workplace bullying, body dysmorphic disorder, relationship difficulties, parenting difficulties, infertility, adoption issues, financial stress, and mental health issues.

Relationship Therapy

Sarah has trained for a year with a prestigious psychology clinic as a Relationship Therapist in Sydney, Australia. She uses strategies from Gottman Method Couples Therapy which are research based methods from the Gottman Institute for relationship therapy.

Child Therapy

Sarah has a great deal of experience providing clinical psychology interventions for children and young people presenting with a wide range of difficulties depression and anxiety, bullying, eating disorders, Asperger’s syndrome, ADHD and ADD, speech and communication difficulties, social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. For the past eleven years Sarah has worked extensively with parents providing advice and guidance around a wide range of parenting difficulties. She has an interest in the Gottman approach to parenting (Emotion Coaching, the Heart of Parenting) and attachment parenting.

Child Assessments

Sarah has a great deal of experience providing clinical psychology interventions and assessments for children and young people. Sarah has completed in-depth specialist consultations on approximately 150 complex Assessment of Need reports for the HSE. These children have presented with a wide range of difficulties including Autistic Spectrum Disorder, specific learning difficulties (e.g. Dyslexia, Developmental Co-ordination Disorder/Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia), encopresis and enuresis (primary and secondary), depression and anxiety, bullying, Asperger’s syndrome, ADHD and ADD, global developmental delay, speech difficulties, social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Dr Sarah McNamara is a Registered Senior Clinical Psychologist and has 22 years of experience providing psychological services to clients within primary care and specialist care settings as a private clinical psychologist, within GP practices, the CRC, and currently for the HSE.
